Whatcom Sports Commission (WSC) is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit corporation established in 1986 as the Whatcom Soccer Commission. WSC was developed to build, operate and maintain athletic facilities for youth and adult recreational activities in Whatcom County. WSC developed one of the finest soccer facilities in the state of Washington; Northwest Soccer Park. In 2004, WSC expanded it’s focus to include the management and operation of the Sportsplex Indoor Soccer & Ice Arena. At that time it changed its name to the Whatcom Sports Commission to better reflect the programs of the organization.

WSC staff and board develop and manage high quality programs, tournaments and camps to reach as many children and adults in Whatcom County as possible. WSC has a community Board of Directors that provide oversight and direction for the WSC Executive Director, and staff.


The Whatcom Sports Commission, a non-profit organization, provides enjoyable recreational facilities and programs for
Whatcom County and surrounding area residents. It is our goal to provide affordable, safe, fun, and healthy environment where the
community can enjoy a wide range of unique recreational programs and activities. WSC facilities and programs are operate &
maintained without any burden to the taxpayers of Bellingham & Whatcom County
